This loot generator rolls a D&D 5e hoard scaled for CR 5-10 encounters, such as a leather satchel of mixed coin and wrapped valuables. Reroll for a new hoard or open the example below to see the exact draw.

What a CR 5-10 Hoard Contains

This is the working tier of most campaigns, and the generator treats it that way: mixed coin with gold now the main denomination, wrapped valuables, gems and art objects worth tens to a few hundred gold each, and better odds of an uncommon magic item, with the occasional rare as a set piece. The example draw below, a leather satchel of mixed coin and wrapped valuables, is typical.

Expect totals in the hundreds of gold. The Loot by Level baseline for tier 2 is that uncommon items become standard kit and each character holds two or three permanent items by level 10, so a hoard from this page every few sessions keeps the party on that curve.

When to Use It

Use it for the ogre chieftain's den, a cult's hidden shrine, a wight's barrow, or the reward at the end of a three-session arc. It also works as a catch-up hoard: if the party feels underequipped for their level, one or two of these aimed at the characters furthest behind is the most pleasant correction in the game.

Want the same budget with a theme? The dragon hoard, bandit cache, temple treasury, dungeon vault, and shipwreck pages preset a source on top of this CR band.
