Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 16, 2026
Tools and Taverns is a free web-based toolkit for Dungeon Masters and players of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what choices you have. The short version: we do not ask for any personal information, we do not sell data, and the only cookies used on the site are optional analytics cookies you can block.
Information We Collect
Tools and Taverns does not require an account. There are no sign-ups, logins, or forms that ask for personal information. We do not collect, store, or transmit your name, email address, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information on our servers.
The generators on this site create content on demand. Your requests are processed statelessly and are not logged to a database or tied back to you.
Analytics
When analytics are enabled, Tools and Taverns uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are popular and whether the site is working. Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser and collect information such as:
- Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
- The referring site or search engine that sent you here
- Your approximate location (country/region, derived from IP)
- Your device type, browser, and operating system
IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage. Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally. You can opt out at any time by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser, or using any standard ad/tracker blocker.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser by a website. Tools and Taverns itself does not set any cookies. The only cookies you may encounter come from Google Analytics (named `_ga`, `_ga_*`) and are used to distinguish unique visitors.
You can view, block, or delete cookies using your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect the functionality of the generators.
Third-Party Services
Tools and Taverns is hosted on Amazon Web Services (S3 + CloudFront). AWS may log standard network-level request metadata (IP address, user agent, request path) as part of operating the CDN. These logs are retained briefly for security and performance monitoring and are not linked to individual users.
Outbound links to third-party sites (such as the D&D SRD, Wikipedia, or reference articles) are governed by the privacy policies of those sites, not this one.
Your Rights
Because Tools and Taverns does not collect personal data on its own servers, there is no account or profile to request, export, or delete. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, your rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, and CCPA respectively are exercised primarily through Google for analytics data — you can review Google's Privacy Policy and use the opt-out options listed above.
Children
Tools and Taverns is intended for a general audience of tabletop roleplaying fans. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes — for example, adding a new third-party service — will be noted in the site's public changelog.
