About This Deity Generator

This free D&D 5e deity generator builds a complete pantheon in one click. Every god arrives with a name and epithet, alignment, one or two suggested cleric domains (all 14 official domains, from Life and War to Twilight and Peace), a portfolio, a holy symbol, a divine rank, a sacred tenet, typical worshippers, and a favored weapon.

Generate two or more deities and the generator weaves them into a real pantheon: rivalries, alliances, consorts, and old grudges connect the gods to each other, so your pantheon comes with divine politics built in. Every result is seeded; one link recreates the whole pantheon.

Example Pantheons

Two real results, exactly as the generator produced them. Each link rebuilds the pantheon from its seed.

A five-deity campaign pantheonLife, Trickery, Peace, Arcana, and War, tangled in oaths
  • Anor "The Iron Shepherd", neutral evil goddess of war and a greater deity, keeps oaths sworn to Alo "The Golden Judge", a lawful good god of mischief.
  • Bariggale "The Hidden Flame", goddess of ley lines, is a child of Choru "The Last Gate"; her tenet: "Break what deserves breaking."
  • Frelsidur "The First Harvest", goddess of diplomacy, watches over villages that have known too much war.

A war pantheonDomain filter set to War: three war gods locked in rivalry
  • Hrariw "The Silent Song", goddess of conquest and twilight, a greater deity and rival of Anarer.
  • Usoruso "The Veiled Lantern", chaotic evil god of conflict and parent of Hrariw.
  • Anarer "The Merciful Flame", lawful good goddess of battle, the closest thing the pantheon has to a conscience.

Tips for Using Generated Deities

  • The suggested domains map directly to 5e cleric subclasses, so a player can pick a god from your pantheon and know which Divine Domain fits.
  • Generate five or more deities and read the relationships first: a rivalry between a war god and a peace goddess is a campaign conflict waiting to happen.
  • Use the Domain filter to fill gaps: if your pantheon lacks a death god, generate one deity with the Death or Grave domain.
  • Give each settlement in your world a patron deity from the pantheon, then use the tenet as the local temple's creed.
  • Pin the pantheon to the Session Notebook and reopen the identical gods next week from the seed link.

Common Questions

Is this deity generator free?
Yes. Every tool on Tools and Taverns is free, with no account, signup, or generation limit.
What does a generated deity include?
A name and epithet, alignment, one or two suggested cleric domains, a portfolio (what the god governs), a holy symbol, a divine rank from quasi-deity to greater deity, a sacred tenet, typical worshippers, and a favored weapon. Pantheons of two or more also get relationships between the gods.
How many deities should a D&D pantheon have?
Somewhere between five and twelve for a major pantheon. Cover the core needs (war, death, nature, knowledge, a trickster, a creator) and add a few gods that reflect your setting's themes. The generator defaults to five for exactly this reason.
Do the suggested domains match D&D 5e cleric subclasses?
Yes. The generator draws from all 14 official cleric domains: Life, Light, Knowledge, Nature, Tempest, Trickery, War, Death, Arcana, Forge, Grave, Order, Peace, and Twilight.
Can I get the same pantheon back later?
Every pantheon has a seed that is written into the page URL after generating. Copy the link (or use the Share button) and opening it rebuilds the identical gods, relationships and all.
Can I use generated deities in my published or streamed game?
Yes. Generated results are yours to use in home games, streams, and published work; no attribution required.
